So why should you join St Francis RFC compared to other clubs? It's simple: we pride ourselves on being one of the most inclusive clubs in the UK.
Whether you're large or small, male or female, or even if you don’t play rugby, St Francis RFC is more of a community than just a club. Here are four reasons that set us apart:
Welcoming Culture
At St Francis RFC, we understand the importance of a welcoming culture. Don't worry—there are no strange initiations here. This is your chance to find your tribe, meet new people, try something new, and be part of something positive.
Not an All-Boys Club - Everyone is Welcome
We truly mean everyone is welcome. While it's traditional in rugby to keep partners and children out, that's not our style. We want everyone involved, including partners, and we even offer a partner membership as a thank you to those who get involved.
No “D*ckhead” Policy
We welcome everyone at St Francis RFC and ask that you respect everyone in the club. Yes, we all have differences, but our goal is to have fun. Winning games is great, but when we lose (or "learn," as we like to say), we reflect and move forward together.
From players to line judges to supporters, we all come together to enjoy the game and each other’s company.
Not Like a Stereotypical Rugby Club
Let’s be honest: traditional rugby clubs often come with elite, men-only vibes and quirky customs, demanding a full-time commitment despite having other responsibilities like jobs or family. That’s not us.
We have just one team and one development squad, aiming for a unified goal. We tried a second team, but it created divides, so we decided to focus on inclusivity. If you want to play at a higher level, we'll create a plan to help you achieve that. We are fair—no favouritism, which is common at other clubs. If you train and pay your membership, you play.
At the end of the day, life is too short. At St Francis RFC, rugby is a shared interest, but it’s also about finding your tribe and making new friends.
